The Indonesian Electric On-Road Year End Race 2014 was held at the Sunter International Speedway, with 60 drivers competing in the premier class of 13.5T Boosted Touring Car, as well as the supporting FWD, Mini, 1/12 pan car and Scalpel classes. There were two invitational guests, which being TITC Champion and Vice champion respectively in 2013: Nicholas Lee and PY Tang. Both have won this annual event back in 2011 and 2013. The weather was cloudy with a bit of rain pouring down on Saturday qualifying but Sunday stayed dry.
This was my first race after a whole week of thrill in IFMAR 1/10 IC in Bangkok, three weeks ago. I did some major change of setup on my T4'14 car but haven't had any time to test it, so the first qualifier would be my first chance to test. Above the sugar-watered track and hot weather, my car was provided some traction as well as much steering while the other still struggling with rear traction loose problem. This condition gave me the advantage of three earlier qualifiers to grab all TQ position. But since the race did a one best round counted, there's no option unleash record a single best lap time. I did 19 laps @ 5.00, almost broke 20 laps, in round 3 when the track condition was 'so soâ™. Best track's grip condition came in round 4, where I failed to make my best since my tires were broken. This gave Muhammad Izzah, fellow XRAY driver to improve his best time into 19 laps @ 5.00, just .3 seconds behind me. With the Sunday final qualifier ran in morning, there was no chance to improve the lap times which meant I would start the final from pole followed by Izzah in 2nd and PY Tang in 3rd. 6 XRAY's car lined up the A Main final.
The first final went smooth enough for me as I could manage the gap from Izzah who made a single driving error and got some pressure from Peter. I also secured the second leg with 5 seconds clear win from Izzah which gave me the overall win. I decided to test a fresh shock setup in leg 3 and broke the 20 laps border while 2nd place finish from Izzah gave him the overall runner up spot. So it would be 1-2 finish for XRAY. Finger crossed to 10 year old boy, Cliff Anderson who just started his RC journey 7 months ago and today. He placed his XRAY T4 into the last step of A Main final beneath the tough competition.
